In the city of Delft the new FieldLab was officially opened in October 2012. The FieldLab has been installed as part of the existing green playground ‘Bomenwijk’, situated within a residential area, next to an elderly home and surrounded by several schools and a neighbourhood with quite a number of young families. Step by step the FieldLab will be expanded as a way to update and upgrade the existing playground. The first innovative equipment has been placed.

From Passive to Active

Create an idea for outdoor furniture, which supports interaction between elderly and children. This was the theme of a one week intensive workshop, set up by ProFit, in cooperation with the municipality of Delft and Delft University of Technology. The entry From Passive to Active by Omar Ebadi, a young graduate student, was selected as the winning design, and has been realized and placed in the FieldLab. It is a simple furniture line, mainly constructed out of scaffold wood. The design directs the gathering of people towards an object, from a passive presence to an active participation.
