Delft

In the city of Delft the new FieldLab was officially opened in October 2012. The FieldLab has been installed as part of the existing green playground ‘Bomenwijk’, situated within a residential area, next to an elderly home and surrounded by several schools and a neighbourhood with quite a number of young families. Step by step the FieldLab will be expanded as a way to update and upgrade the existing playground. The first innovative equipment has been placed.

Serious Gaming

Through the ProFit Innovation Competition 2012 for FieldLab Delft businesses and students were challenged to develop all season concepts to be used by both children (age 8-12) and elderly. The winning concept was Serious Gaming by the company Yalp. It did not only win the award in Delft, but also the overall ProFit Innovation Competition 2012 award for all four FieldLabs (Eindhoven, Delft, Kortrijk, Sheffield). Serous Gaming can be described as a set of interactive poles, which offer a variety of games, including active movement and brain training. All seven poles consist of a display and LED-lighting and are able to communicate text, images and animations. The poles are positioned in a public space. Players move between the poles. Movement sensors enable the poles to react to the players. At this moment at FieldLab Delft.a first version of Serious Gaming is being installed as a prototype to be tested.
