The Unraid license you should buy depends on your specific needs. If you are a home user looking to build a basic server with up to 6 attached storage devices, the Basic license would be sufficient. If you require more storage devices or want to use advanced features like virtualization, the Plus or Pro license would be more suitable. Evaluate your requirements and choose the license that best fits your needs and budget. **

To make regular backups in TrueNAS, you can use the built-in replication feature to create scheduled backups of your data to another TrueNAS system or to a remote server. You can set up a replication task and schedule it to run at regular intervals to ensure that your data is consistently backed up. In Unraid, you can use the built-in backup plugin called "Unassigned Devices" to create regular backups of your data. You can set up a schedule for the backup task and specify the source and destination for the backup. This allows you to automate the backup process and ensure that your data is regularly backed up. In both TrueNAS and Unraid, it's important to regularly monitor and test your backups to ensure that they are working properly and that your data is being effectively protected. **

To ensure that Unraid only fills the hard drives halfway, you can set a disk utilization limit in the Unraid settings. This limit will prevent Unraid from filling up the hard drives beyond the specified threshold. Additionally, you can also manually monitor the storage usage on your hard drives and take action to move or delete data when they reach the halfway point. Regularly checking the storage usage and managing your data effectively will help maintain the desired level of utilization on your hard drives. **
